Chord Hugo2099_scrLe Chord Hugo est un convertisseur numérique/analogique portatif de haut niveau, compatible avec les fichiers audio PCM jusqu’à 32 bits/384 kHz ainsi que les fichiers DSD64 et DSD128. Il est équipé d’un amplificateur de casques, d’un préamplificateur et d’un contrôleur Bluetooth apt-X. De plus, le Hugo est pourvu de deux piles rechargeable offrant plus de 12 heures d’autonomie et l’avantage d’une source de courant stable et sans pollution.

Contrairement à la majorité des DAC audio du marché, le Hugo n’est pas équipé d’un convertisseur numérique/analogique acheté auprès d’un fabricant tiers (Burr Brown, ESS Sabre, Wolfson, etc.), mais intègre plutôt un puissant circuit de conversion propriétaire développé par Chord. Il s’agit d’une conception qui emploie un processeur XIlinx Spartan 6 de type Field Programmable Gate Array Spartan. Le Hugo se présente sous forme d’un boitier compact en aluminium de qualité aéronautique doté de deux entrées mini-USB, une entrée Toslink, une entrée numérique coaxiale ainsi que deux sorties casque jack 3.5mm, une sortie casque jack 6,35mm et une paire de sortie analogique sur RCA. À cela s’ajoute deux petits boutons poussoirs pour la sélection de source et le filtre Crossfeed. Sur le dessus de l’appareil se trouve un système d’éclairage par diodes de couleurs pour indiquer la fréquence d’échantillonnage du fichier audio en cours de lecture mais également la source active et le niveau de charge de la pile. Naim Super Lumina

superluminaclubbannerNous avons maintenant en magasin, les nouveaux câbles d’enceinte et interconnexions haut de gamme Super Lumina de Naim. Lors du développement de Statement, le système d’amplification phare de Naim, les ingénieurs ont débuté un projet en parallèle afin de concevoir une toute nouvelle gamme de câbles haute performance. Ils avont débuté sur une feuille blanche, en spécifiant chaque élément d’après leur expertise de la construction des câbles et de la science des matériaux, et sur la base des résultats de milliers d’heures passés en salle d’écoute à tester des prototypes. Ainsi est née la gamme Super Lumina. Constituée d’interconnexions audio et de câbles d’enceinte, cette gamme répond aux exigences de Statement tout en pouvant s’adapter à d’autres systèmes Naim 500 et Classic Series.  

Une version avancée du connecteur Air-PLUG est utilisée pour les interconnexions Super Lumina. Ce nouveau Air-PLUG est muni de plusieurs anneaux individuels en aluminium, qui forment l’arrière du connecteur. Ces anneaux sont vissés ensemble pour former une section articulée qui empêche le passage de vibrations mécanique non désirées. Le choix de l’aluminium comme matériau améliore ce processus. Les broches des connecteurs sur les câbles à terminaisons DIN flottent ainsi dans leurs ports, ce qui renforce l’effet de découplage précisément à l’endroit où le signal entre dans le produit. Les câbles Super Lumina sont conçus pour minimiser l’effet des sources d’interférences internes et externes et pour préserver une fidélité maximale du signal. La conception de base du câble comprend plusieurs conducteurs en cuivre argenté multifilaires, isolés individuellement et de différents diamètres, dans un blindage en cuivre étamé. Le tout est enfermé dans une gaine extérieure souple, ce qui facilite l’installation tout en minimisant les brouillages causés par la microphonie. Chaque conducteur de signal, de retour, de terre et de blindage est fabriqué individuellement, selon sa fonction spécifique. Le conducteur de terre fait référence à la forme d’onde de la bande audio, en reflet à la conception interne des composants électroniques Naim. Pour optimiser les performances et assurer une cohérence, la directivité des câbles est contrôlée à tous les stades de la fabrication. Chaque diamètre est apparié après extrusion, de manière à ce que tous les conducteurs du câble aient la même directivité.

Chaque câble Super Lumina est assemblé manuellement chez Naim à Salisbury et passe par un processus exclusif de relâchement pour libérer les matériaux des contraintes inhérentes créées par le processus de fabrication. Ainsi, les câbles atteignent une performance optimale avec un délai de mise en service minimal.
