It's also designed with discrete components (which is very rare at this price point), which means it's made from individual transistors instead of IC chips. The Novo uses a Headphone Sensitivity Volume Control making it compatible with a wide range of headphone impedances and sensitivities without the use of gain switches.  This avoids the use of gain switches which would otherwise degrade performance.
