ModWright
Dan Wright, owner and founder of ModWright, is a highly respected designer who has come up with an exclusive preamplifier design that is blowing everybody away! The SWL 9.0SE tube preamplifier is built to very high standards and offers exceptional performance but without the high ticket price.

The unit is voiced to offer a full, fast and accurate recreation of the entire frequency range. Bass is deep, tight and authoritative and high frequencies sparkle. The tonal balanced is designed to be accurate and detailed without edge or glare. The liquidity and holographic imaging of tubes is present, without the ‘soft’ or ‘syrupy’ sound often attributed to tube designs - this is not a blatantly colored piece. It has both quickness and snap, qualities that often elude other tube designs. Use of the very linear 5687 tube and pure Class A circuitry allow for low distortion and exceptionally low noise.

Top quality parts are used throughout, including FRED and Schottky diodes, metal film Vishay resistors, NOS tubes, ceramic tube sockets and high-quality film caps in signal path applications insure exceptional performance. The power supply features choke input current regulation and there’s a mute-on delay turn-on sequence with soft-start B+ supply.

The bottom line: this is an outstanding preamp!

Modwright SWL 9.0SE — A must hear !
• “ ...the SWL 9.0SE doesn’t do anything wrong. ...The 9.0SE is easily 90% of what’s possible and perhaps even a bit more. For $2000 (US) give or take, that’s one helluva propositin. Dan Wright’s first commercial production piece is a high performance, low-noise, very linear remote-controled valve linestage that excels at microdynamics, drive, bass control, resolution and dimensional soundstage enhancements. ...Build quality especially on the insides seems stellar, with parts that usually only appear in truly upscale units...This is a fully mature, well-conceived product fit even for the champagne crowds (who will probably overlook it) but deliberately crafted for what our own Jeff Day calls audio everymen and women. And that we need far more of in audioland. Dan Wright is one of its latter-day evangelists. He gets you within 10% or better of what’s possible...” — Award Winner, 6 Moons.com.

• “It makes music a solid, living thing... The impression of real energy coming from real musicians in a real space is palpable, the performance spell-binding. ...leaves systems sounding more like music and less like an academic excercise. The more I listen to the SWL 9.0SE the harder I find it to argue with its approach. At this price it’s exactly modwright the shot in the arm a great many systems could all too audibly do with.” — Hi-Fi+

• “...the SWL 9.0SE is one of, if not the most balanced component I’ve had in my system. The clarity of the system matches its inner resolution. The extended treble is equaled by the deep bass extension. The stage is matched by the images placed upon it. This type of balance is rare, and special. ...Further, the refined sound is matched by the superb build quality and easy to use controls. In fact, the only real imbalance is the overall quality you get for the bucks spent. Here the SWL 9.0SE is off the charts, offering performance that is far superior to that of its peers. ...The performance of the SWL 9.0SE makes settling for a less expensive preamplifier a poor choice - even if you have to skip lunches for a year to step up to the SWL 9.0SE...” — Best of Award, Enjoythemusic.com.

"Captivating sound quality that will transform your system. Build quality is equally impressive and value top-notch. Highly recommended." — Recommended components, Hi-Fi World.
(Available in Silver, Black or new 'Blu' finish).

Acoustic Zen Adagio
Acoustic Zen's new Adagio loudspeaker uses a pair of 6.5-inch midrange/woofer driver in a specialized sandwich design with ceramic external layers around a fabric internal layer for maximum stiffness while minimizing cone breakup, flexing, and resonance. A shortened, under-hung voice coil inside a long magnetic gap is said to result in having the voice coil behave in an extremely linear fashion throughout its entire travel, thereby reducing both harmonic and TIM distortion.

A limited production modified 1.62-inch circular ribbon tweeter has high power handling characteristics along with a linear impedance and phase response. The 0.01mm heat resistant Kapton membrane is almost weightless, providing an immediate and precise response to any transients in the original music signal. The tweeter is flanked above and below by the 6.5-inch driver, with all drivers mounted on an enclosure with curved surfaces to minimize external diffraction. At the bottom of the cabinet is the internal transmission line port. Nominal impedance is 6 ohm with sensitivity being 89dB/W/m. Overall frequency response is from 30Hz to 30 kHz (±3dB).

"The Acoustic Zen Adagios make extraordinary music. They present such a smooth and balanced performance you almost forget to get excited by them. Instead, you get lost in the music you love." — The Absolute Sound.

• " Right now it is not out of the question to suggest with full credulity that Acoustic Zen's Adagio speaker is the most under-priced high-end audio value I can name." — Enjoy The Music.

• "To say that I was impressed with the Adagios would be an understatement. ... At $4,300.00 (US) for the pair the Adagios represent a considerable bargain when you take into account the expense behind producing underhung drivers, a transmission line design and a high-end furniture finish that would be at home in any major showroom. ... The Adagios’ high resolution capabilities, neutral presentation, and exceptional imaging, will reward the most discriminating audiophile with true high-end performance that is usually only experienced, for save the most expensive designs. The Adagio’s sweet and balanced sound will appease many and should definitely be auditioned to hear how wonderfully music is reproduced. I was so amazed by the performance of the Adagios that I didn’t hesitate to nominate them with a Most Wanted Component Award. This is one fantastic loudspeaker that comes strongly recommended." — Stereo Times.

• " ...Acoustic Zen Adagios, by any measuring stick you care to reference, rank among the finest price/performance offerings in contemporary high end audio. Period." — Chip Stern, 6 moons.

MOON Evolution
• "...outstanding combination of design, build, parts, finish, and truly prodigious performance."
The Absolute Sound.

Created to meet the needs of the most demanding audiophiles, the new Moon Evolution Series is now on permanent demonstration at Codell Audio.

These new products incorporate several new proprietary technologies developped from a cost-no-object design approach. Their jaw-dropping sonic performance and battleship-build quality further solidify Simaudio's reputation as one of today's top manufacturers of state of the art electronics.

Two new models have also been introduced in the Classic Series. The Moon i 5.3 integrated amplifier replaces the highly-regarded i5, providing more power and improved sonic transparency. Joining the i 5.3 is the Moon CD 5.3, a 24-bit/352.8kHz upsampling CD player.

All Moon products are proudly designed and built in Canada.

Moon Andromeda
"FOR: Exquisite build quality; awe-inspiring sonic performance; explosive dynamics; unbelievably detailed sound.
AGAINST: Nothing - not even the price, because this is an absolutely outstanding player.
VERDICT: If your system demands this kind of source, and you have the money, we order you to listen to the Andromeda!"
— What Hi-Fi.

Moon P-8
"I could find no fault with its operation or its sound. For this time and in this place, the P-8 - especially when paired with the W-8 - is as good as it gets." — Stereophile.

"...build-quality second to none...it's tonally neutral and pretty much characterless...its transparency is see-through, dynamic response hair-trigger and very wide, detail amazing, with that paradoxical combination of iron grip and utter ease." — Tha Absolute Sound.

Moon W-8
"It was clear from my many weeks with the Simaudio Moon Evolution W-8 that it was a superbly musical power amplifier. ...an outstanding power amplifier. ...the Simaudio Moon Evolution W-8 is capable of state-of-the-art performance. Did I like it? You bet."
— Stereophile.

" Like its companion preamplifier the P-8, the W-8 is tonally neutral, has iron control yet exquisite finesse, and appears to do nothing but amplify the signal fed to it. ...its performance cannot be faulted in any particular, and its hard to imagine anything ever going wrong with it, which means it could very likely be the last amplifier you'll ever buy." — The Absolute Sound.

Moon SuperNova
"Vocals and other mirange instruments had greater presence and palpability than other digital sources I've heard.
...Dynamic contrasts were sublimely reproduced by the SuperNova. The SuperNova's presentation was meatier and more substantial, with a greater sense of three-dimensional presence. While the Wadia player sounded like very good digital ...the SuperNova sounded more like analog... The Simaudio Moon SuperNova CD player is a true statement product. Beautifully designed on the inside and out,... Successful on so many levels, the SuperNova ultimately excels at reproducing the musical event. Instead of hearing zeros and ones, when I listen to the SuperNova, all I hear is music. I can give no higher compliment than that." — Positive-feedback.com

Moon Equinox
" The Equinox is a welcome relief from the clinical sound still heard from many digital sources. It's warm, natural presentation restores the feeling of dimensionality and openness... breathes new life into a format that continues to improve. Excellent build quality rounds out the package." — The Absolute Sounds, Recommended Components.

Moon I-3
"The Moon i-3 is a very good integrated amplifier with more than sufficient power for even hard-to-drive speakers; it delivers clean, detailed, and effectively neutral sound that mates nicely with virtually any source and speakers; and it sports topnotch build quality that makes for a substantial and impressive product. Add to these the fact that it comes with a double-the-industry-standard ten-year warranty ...a very good value in a compact and elegant package." — Soundstage.

Lavardin Technologies
The exceptional musicality of Lavardin amplifiers is the result of revolutionary and exclusive design concepts that dramatically reduce the effects of memory distortion in electronic components.

Memory distortion has existed in solid state circuitry from the beginning, but its discovery was made only recently by Lavardin Technologies. After years of research, Lavardin engineers have found that silicon components (transistors, ICs, etc.) store ghost images of the electrons that flow through them. These imprints then mix with the following information to produce "memory distortion".

Lavardin is the only manufacturer to have found an effective method to measure this phenomenon and, more importantly, to have virtually eliminate its impact on music reproduction. This important breakthrough has led to the creation of a simple and truly innovative line of integrated amplifiers that have been astounding audio reviewers and audiophiles alike.

"In a world which continually rejuvenates and rediscovers old technology,
these products could just represent the most significant breakthrough
in audio circuitry for years." —
Hi-Fi +.

Model IS
• "The lowly Model IS makes just about every other amp you'll compare it to sound smeared, muddled, confused. — The Absolute Sound, Golden Ear Award.

• "Yes, I dare say that it is something truly unique. ...if one considers the essential aspects of music reproduction, it leaves many much more expensive competitors way behind! — Hi-Fi & Musik.

"The Lavardin Model IS is truly out of the ordinary..." — Prestige Audio Video.

Model IS Reference
• "I have listened to an awful lot of hi-fi in the last 17 years ...this is the second time I have ever been so completely and utterly impressed with any single piece of equipment." — Hi-Fi+, Product Of The Year.

• "...superbly transparent sound - the kind of sound audiophiles pay tens of thousands of dollars to get. ...the Lavardin amps are bargains." — Stereophile.

• Class A Recommended Components. — Stereophile.

• " The Lavardin IS Reference is a true reference that every music lover should make a top priority to audition. A word of warning though: after experiencing the Lavardin's grace and resolution, otherwise very good electronics will sound crude and false." — Stereo Times.

Model IT
• "Lavardin's Model IT is actually one of the hi-fi's great bargains. ...in every important sonic respect the Model IT is a revelational experience..." — Hi-Fi Choice, Editor's Choice Award.

• " This is a terrific integrated amplifier that is good enough to worry the very that's out there - irrespective of cost..." — What Hi-Fi.

• " How about £3495 for an amp that can live with the highest of the high-end (and beat a lot of them hollow) ? Sounds like a bargain to me." — Hi-Fi+.

"More than a stunning amp, it's a revelation." — Prestige Audio Video.

• " ...possesses the ability to make almost every other amplifier sound cluttered and clumsy..." — Hi-Fi+.

• "The Lavardin Model IT serves as a potent reminder that the High End, at its best, is about the excitement of music..." — Stereophile.

• " The Model IT is certainly one of the most self-effacing, natural sounding amplifiers I've heard, almost regardless of price. Outstanding." — Hi-Fi World.

• "This Lavardin model achieves a level of transparency that has rarely, or never, been achieved before..." — Diapason.

SP 2/3
• "If you trouble reading between the lines, I'll spell it out for you the best I can. No, the SP2/3s are not as tonally pure as their sibling, the Spendor 1/2, and they also lack the power and solidity of the larger Spendor SP100s. That being said, the SP2/3 are a steal at the asking price and one of the most musical sounding speakers that I've ever had the chance to hear. They surprised me by their levels of transparency and detail... The SP2/3 are an ideal loudspeaker for a mature audiophile who is fed up with all of the flavour of the month products and wans something substantial and capable of truly high-end reproduction." — Enjoy The Music.com.

"Without a doubt the SP2/3e continues the Spendor tradition for accurate monitoring. the even and natural balnce with fine transparency and good dynamic expression is very rewarding..." — Hi-Fi Choice, 5 Star winner.

S3/5
• "This two-way is a true mini-monitor of world-class tonal neutrality and openness, transparency and imaging." — The Absolute Sound, Recommended Components.

"...it's one of the smoothest, best integrated and most neutral to be found. ...It's accuracy on singing voice and its stable crisply focused stereo image put many larger and more costly speakers to shame. ...this Spendor is of reference accuracy and neutrality..." — Hi-Fi News.

"The soundstage was stunningly laid before me, and details were presented with a degree of accuracy that were quite literally mind-boggling! Spendor have delivered the goods, and thankfully, the legend lives on." — Hi-Fi Plus.

S5e
• "... I've never heard anything near this price and size that has the Spendor S5e's combination of strengths. ...The S5e is an uncoloured speaker that gets the notes and beats so essentially right, and is so emotionally direct and honest, that, for once, exceptional sound enhanced the music-making rather than distracted from it.... I can't recommend it strongly enough." — Stereophile.

• "The audio excellence on offer from these compact floorstanders is a cut above the competition, at this price level - the S5es are simply awesome loudspeakers." — Award winner, What Hi-Fi.

• "The S5e’s qualities were apparent virtually from the opening bars, and it didn’t really matter which kind of music I chose. One further feature of the S5e which I found pleasing was the way it also manages to sound superb when played quietly. It seems to maintain resolution and hear-through clarity at very low replay levels – something that is not that common among speaker designs these days. They would be a fine choice for many music lovers who find it hard to find anything made today at a sensible price that delivers truly enjoyable and all-encompasing delivery of all sorts of music" — Hi-Fi News.

S6e
• " There is also something else about it, a quality that is rarely found in loudspeaker systems: a sense of natural presence, a feeling that the speaker, instead of behaving as a partially obscured window, is actually transparent. Admirably well-voiced floor standing loudspeaker, with low coloration and good sense of transparency to allow the boxes to disappear. Midrange performance especially was impressive, and the speaker could play easily at high levels. Another winner from Spendor." — Hi-Fi News.

"What they offer is a unique combination of speed, grip, transparency allied to the most ‘benevolent’ tonality. Whatever you listen to, this is a loudspeaker that’s capable far beyond its price and should delight all comers." — Hi-Fi World.

S8e
• "So at the risk of sounding naïve and overblown, I'm going to give you my true thoughts on the Spendor S8e: buy it. For $4495 (Can) you are, I swear it, getting as close as a whisker to $30000 in sound, glorious house-filling sound." — The Absolute Sound 2005.

"An heir to some of the great BBC monitor speakers of the past, the S8e offers glorious midrange and treble response, wide deep soundstaging with excellent image height plus clean, clear, dramatic bass even low bass. But the S8e's most compelling characteristic is perhaps the elusive and profoundly satisfying quality of musical "completeness". — The Absolute Sound, Recommended Components.

• "The all new S8e offers the brand's near legendary qualities — and then some ....the words that spang to mind to describe the Spendor's sound were neutrality, transparency and balance ....the speaker's impressive spatial qualities knock you for six, then the S8es play the truly transparent component's trump card: whatever you play through them, you cannot catch them out. ...The Spendors are simply stunning speakers. ...you'd be crazy to overlook them." — Hi-Fi News.

"Generously large, silky smooth delivery, this dynamic sounding floorstander is an excellent all rounder." — Hi-Fi World, Recommended component.

"This was some of the best bass I have ever heard from a loudspeaker selling for less than $10,000/pair (US). ...the S8e's midrange — glorious. ...The other thing that makes the S8e special is the seamless quality of its sound. ...stunning harmonic presentation..." — Stereophile.

• "Close to perfection." —Winner of the Diapason d'Or, Diapason Magazine.

S9e
• " ....this is a special speaker at a reasonable price. A combination of transparent midrange and treble with open, extended bass that is uncommon...."Its sense of bass grip and revealing, natural midrange are what make the S9e special.""
— Hi-Fi Choice.

"Even if one were to approach the S9e without any prior knowledge of the Spendor brand ethos and history, it would be obvious after the first few bars of listening that it is a great speaker - one so even-handed and balanced that it would be difficult to find fault. ...one of the greats." — Hi-Fi News.
